Appliance parts and crime in the news

I came across this new headline today: “CCPD: Burglars use washing machine motor” from The Corpus Christi Caller Times in Corpus Christi, Texas. The story goes on to say,” Corpus Christi police are looking for burglars who used a washing machine electric motor to bust into a retail store on the 4100 block of South Staples Tuesday night.”

The news story, while a little unusual, is nothing compared to the humorous comments added by the readers below the story. Such comments included:  “A CLEAN getaway!” and “I guess to locate these thefts you have to keep your eyes and nose on high alert.”

Read the story and comments here: CCPD: Burglars use washing machine motor.

It got me thinking of what other unusual news stories featured appliances or appliance parts. If you see any, weird or unusual news stories, please add them in the comments below. Don’t forget to include a link, your source and maybe the writer.

  1. This is unbelievable! I didn’t know that it was even possible to use a washing machine tumbler for that purpose. Pretty scary!
