Here’s a news story that’s being talked about on many news sites and has even been commented on by Rush Limbaugh.
I am going to quote from a story that appeared on the Daily Mail Online, a newspaper from the United Kingdom, “The Vatican newspaper says that, rather than the pill or the right to work or vote, the washing machine did more to liberate women in the 20th century.”
“The submission was made in a lengthy article titled ‘The Washing Machine and the Liberation of Women – Put in the Detergent, Close the Lid and Relax.’”
The article appeared in a “semi-official” Vatican Newspaper, “L’OSSERVATORE ROMANO” to observe “International Women’s Day” on Sunday, March 8. The story went on to describe the history of the washing machine, which could be sort of interesting in itself.
I tried to find the original article, but there did not seem to be many stories on the “L’OSSERVATORE ROMANO‘s: Website.
What do you think of this article? Was it silly? Was it insulting?
Read what people had to say on the Daily Mail’s website. Comments appear right under the story.
