If you have a cold oven or your gas oven takes a long time to light, chances are the igniter needs to be replaced. The ignitor is a small round or rectangular device located near the burner. The ignitor is wired in series with the gas safety valve. Your gas oven’s ignitor can weaken (glow a very dull red) which will not produce enough power to ignite the flame in your oven.
